What is this? A Journal Entry?

Hey guys, I’ve been going through an art/writing block for a few weeks. Well, more like, I haven’t been able to focus on any one thing. You may owe my getting out of it to this guy.

March 4, 2012 is his birthday (it helps me to write it down) when, on a whim, I invented a character design game:

Have a friend (or a few) pick these things randomly. Do not tell them what it will be for:
A shape (geometrical, a symbol, or any other simple shape; I used ‘mushroom’ once)
Two different animals (it’s best if it’s two very different animals so this is where more than one friend can help)
And a song that you know well (not a song connected to an already-established character; IE; movie soundtrack)

The shape will be the hair and face, the animals will be the features, and the song will inspire the character’s clothing, personality, manner, etc. The prompts themselves are just for inspiration and can be interpreted anyway the artist likes. Because of this, two people can get the same categories and still probably end up with different looks. (Why do I sound like a rulebook?)
Anyway, I just wanted to share my game because it was a lot of fun; I created crazy-looking characters I never would have thought of before. When I added, “pick a drink/candy bar size” to it, I got to draw lots of different shapes and sizes too. (Fun-sized was the best)
This guy here had heart-shaped hair and chin, features inspired by an aardvark and a manatee, and his song for his clothing design was ‘Awake and Alive’ by Skillet. (Admittedly, I'm not very good at designing clothes like this... . It kinda looks like WW1, haha. And the coloring on the jacket's a little sloppy... .)

I probably should have inked this, but just wanted to play around with new coloring techniques and didn’t actually plan on it turning out well enough that I’d want to post it. It’s a little sloppy; -especially his hand and arms. Aw well. I’ll accept critiques and tips on coloring if you guys have any for me.
